Decriminalization in the city of Bellingham is our first step to creating space for equitable access, support, and education.

In April 2025, we're proposing a city resolution to decriminalize entheogenic plants and fungi, modeled after successful efforts in Port Townsend and Jefferson County.

This resolution would make the enforcement of laws against personal use, cultivation, and sharing of entheogens the lowest priority for local law enforcement, a step toward shifting policy from punishment to healing.

Decriminalization does not create a commercial framework for entheogens, and instead supports a Gift, Gather, Grow model that is rooted in personal freedom, harm reduction, and education.

We drafted a resolution that reflects best practices from other cities and would love your input.

Read the draft & add your comments here.

How to contribute:

  • Suggest edits or language tweaks by commenting directly in the document.
  • Highlight any concerns or additional points we should consider.
  • Add your voice to help shape a resolution that best serves our community.

Deadline for feedback: March 23 (so we can finalize before the upcoming General meeting).

This is a crucial step toward local decriminalization and future state-level efforts! Thank you for being part of this movement!
